St Aloysius' College supports Karuna Foundation

Wednesday, September 09, 2009

In July 2007 the St Aloysius’ Arrupe Outreach Program was launched by Fr Ross Jones who announced that the Karuna Foundation would be supported by the school to raise funds for badly needed resources.
The first initiative is to raise funds which will help establish a vegetable garden and teaching resources for the centre.

Fr Ross Jones launched the St Aloysius’ Arrupe Outreach Program which supports the inspirational work completed by various members of the wider Jesuit community. Fr Middleton, Principal. Fr Ross Jones and Martin Lobo, Principal of the Junior School agreed to support the Karuna Foundation in helping to obtain the resources it requires to carry on its work in developing the Children's centre.

On Saturday 18th November a night of laughter, brain teasing and fun was had by all the Aloysian community and their friends who attended. Murray Olds, 2UE's radio host and producer was MC for the evening and was unrelenting in firing questions at the audience. The quiz rounds were interspersed by games organised by Ian Perkes which set a lively competitive tone for the evening.

At completion of the night close to $17,000 was raised and will go directly to supporting this ‘grass roots’ project. - clearing a swamp for fresh water and building a vegetable garden. Thanks to Aloysius College, to all our donors, prize contributors, helpers on the night, and all who attended to make this a fun night for all. Special thanks to Linda Maher, the primary organiser who has already started thinking about next year!
